On Friday, Workington Academy was inundated with donations of cakes and biscuits for Macmillan’s “World’s Biggest Coffee Morning”. Students and staff baked cakes and brought in treats, which were sold during break time. Hundreds flocked to the hall to taste the delectable delights, play some games, and take part in competitions. All in the name of charity!
Year 5 pupils from Ashfield Junior School joined us for their break time, and all thoroughly enjoyed the cakes on offer and the chance to play in our sports hall. Their donations were all gratefully accepted, and we really appreciate the support that they gave the coffee morning.
The sale was a huge success. The atmosphere was electric and our students were so eager to help to raise money for such a worthy cause. In total, Workington Academy raised £467.79 for Macmillan Cancer Support. The morning was a testimony of how the community approach found at the academy really does help us all be the best that we can be.
There’s certainly truth in what Macmillan said, cake really did taste better together!
