Yesterday was the first meeting of the Workington Academy School Council. It is comprised of students from all year groups from year 7 to 13 and is led by the Head Girl and Head Boy. The group met to discuss issues including social times and activities, rewards and praise and organising whole school charity events.
All students contributed to the meeting and offered a variety of suggestions to solve the problems, including each year group having a social/common room where they could socialise, and forming a sub-committee that can develop the Schools involvement to raise money for charities like Children in Need and the Anti-bullying Alliance.
Overall the meeting was a huge success, and these valuable ideas are now going to be taken to the school’s senior leaders so that we ‘can make change happen’ in order to make Workington Academy ‘Be The Best It Can Be’!
