On Friday 23rd October, Workington Academy will be showing their support for Cancer Research by raising vital funds for Stand Up To Cancer, a Channel 4 initiative.
During break time there will be games in the foyer. At lunch time there will be a “Quiz Master Challenge” in N16. Enter for 50p to be in with the chance of claiming the title of Workington Academy’s Quiz Master. You’ll also be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes, donated by the Year 11 team.
Remember to bring some extra cash to help us raise money for such a worthy cause,
Stand Up To Cancer has so far raised over £23.8m for cancer research. 100% of that money has gone straight to translational research. It takes developments in the lab and transforms them into new tests and treatments for cancer patients.
Our money will fund research. The research will beat cancer.
100% of the money you raise will fund translational research. This takes developments in the lab and transforms them into brand new tests and treatments for cancer patients.
In the 1970s, less than a quarter of people with cancer survived. Today, two in four people will survive cancer for 10 years of more. But we can’t stop there. We’re Standing Up To Cancer so that we can accelerate progress and speed breakthroughs from labs to patients.
By Standing Up To Cancer, you’re helping to transform the lives of cancer patients and their families. We want to see three quarters of people surviving the disease in the next 20 years, and with your support we will achieve this.
Cures are within our grasp. But it’s not technology or knowledge that’s holding us back – it’s funding. We need you to raise money and give cancer research the firepower to develop new treatments more quickly
