Workington Academy students have been celebrating their A Level successes today with 100% pass rate A* – E for academic A Level subjects. Many students were delighted to achieve higher than expected grades in their chosen vocational subjects too.
Lorrayne Hughes, Executive Headteacher William Howard Trust said ‘I am truly delighted for the students and Workington Academy. Students and teachers have worked incredibly hard to ensure that the best results were achieved and this now means that students can look positively towards the next phase of their education or career. Workington Academy is making amazing progress in its journey towards excellence and I am confident that we will become an outstanding school in the future’.
The academy has also achieved excellent value added results in English, Health and Social Care, Art and Sports Science.
Jonathan Logan, Headteacher at Workington Academy said ‘this is a great day for Workington Academy, our students have done us proud and we are delighted by their achievements. There are several students who have achieved A grades in more than one of their subjects and several others have achieved distinctions and above. We are looking forward to moving into our new school in February, which has specialist 6th Form facilities and I’m sure we will go from strength to strength’.
78% of Workington Academy 6th form students applied for university places and the majority of those have achieved the grades enabling them to go.
