At Workington Academy we are committed to delivering high quality careers, information, advice and guidance (CEIAG) for all of our students. Our aim is to equip our students with the knowledge and skills to enable them to make effective choices, understand their career and progression routes, and enable them to manage smooth transitions on to the next stage of learning or work. At key milestones throughout the students’ education we will provide support, advice and guidance to ensure realistic and informed decisions are made to help them to progress to Higher Education, Apprenticeships, and the world of work.
Throughout the year speakers and local employers from different organisations come into school to provide the students with inspiration, advice and inform them of professions and careers that they might never have considered.
On Wednesday 1 February we are holding a World of Work morning for all Year 11 students.
The format of the day will consist of:
- Assembly in the Performance Hall outlining the morning to students.
- Morning carousels of mock interviews with local employers, constellation session looking at current jobs in West Cumbria and local Apprenticeship information as well as a Team Building Activity. These sessions will explain and demonstrate the pathways that are available to students in September 2017 when they complete Year 11 and their GCSE Examinations.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the students to experience an insight into their future job opportunities and to meet local employers and business speakers.
Yours faithfully
