Cumbria Education Trust and The Cumberland Building Society are working collaboratively on a competition to create a new logo design for The Cumberland Building Society Young Savers Account during My Money Week, which is run by the Personal Finance Education Group (PFEG) – now part of Young Enterprise.
Tracey Hill, Lead Practitioner in Careers, Financial Education and Enterprise at Cumbria Education Trust said “We are delighted to be working with the Cumberland Building Society. It is a fantastic opportunity for pupils and students in the Cumbria Education Trust schools to be part of this competition and to create a character for such an important savings account”.
The entries for the competition are required to have a Cumbrian theme and this will be drawn onto the outline of the savings pig logo already associated with the Cumberland Building Society brand. The competition will run during June to coincide with My Money Week. The winners from each school will be chosen by The Cumberland Building Society and receive £100 in a Junior Individual Savings Account (ISA), with the overall winner receiving an ISA of £250. The funds will come from an Award Bursary won by Mrs Hill in 2015 as Personal Finance Teacher of the Year.
Lorrayne Hughes CEO of Cumbria Education Trust said “This is a wonderful opportunity for the students of Cumbria Education Trust to be involved with an initiative that showcases Cumbria. The work that has gone on as part of the PFEG initiative has opened up a host of opportunities for our pupils and students and I am really looking forward to seeing the finished designs.”
There will be more information in assemblies in Yewdale School on Monday, 22 May, Longtown School on Wednesday, 24 May and in Workington Academy on Tuesday, 23 May and will be launched in William Howard during PD lessons.
