Stonewall Role Model Speaks to Students

14th December 2017

This week Workington Academy was pleased and privileged to host the visit of Steven Jewitt-Fleet, a Stonewall role model.

Stonewall is an organisation which campaigns for the equality of lesbian, gay, bisexual and trans* people across Britain. Steve is a diplomat – he works for the Foreign Office and intrigued students and staff alike with tales of his work, lifestyle and family. Steve generously spoke with all year groups, stayed for lunch and made himself available for private conversations about his work and his life as a gay man, husband and father.

Any member of Workington Academy who wants further advice, guidance or just a confidential chat can drop into the ‘Open Minds’ Group on Tuesday lunchtimes.
