This week’s winners of the Headteacher Learner of the Week award have both received two nominations from staff.
Elden Taylor in Year 7 has earned £113 whilst running his Tenner Challenge Keyring business, all of which he has decided to donate to the School Radio Club. Elden has shown fantastic entrepreneurial skills, determination and drive to succeed throughout this challenge. He has also been nominated for outstanding work in Food Technology, where he made a game to help students learn Health and Safety rules in the Kitchen. Additionally, he has 100% attendance and has earned 172 achievement points so far this year. Elden displays the 3 R’s in everything that he does and continues to strive to be the best that he can be at all times.
Aimee Niemand in Year 10 has excelled since joining Workington Academy in September. She has been nominated in Maths, where she identified a list of topics which she had not covered in her previous school, and has worked her way through them both at home and with support from her teacher after school. She is now firmly on track for her target grade. Aimee has also excelled in her GCSE English Speaking and Listening Performance. She presented a very powerful speech about the issue of bullying which was thoroughly researched and performed to the highest standard.
Congratulations to both our award winners who receive a photo opportunity with Mr Bird, along with a certificate and a coveted gold star pin badge which they can wear on their blazers for the remainder of their time at Workington Academy.
