Dear Parent/Carer
I am writing to thank you for your support in ensuring that your child attends school dressed appropriately in the Academy’s uniform. As I’m sure you appreciate this is an incredibly important part of your child’s schooling given that the same high expectations will need to be adhered to when they enter employment.
I am pleased to inform you that there have been no changes made to our uniform policy for the next academic year. There are however a few inclusions in this policy that I would like to draw your attention to regarding some of our expectations:
- Sensible black shoes that can take a polish only, unless there is medical evidence provided that the student cannot wear this type of shoe. Trainers of any kind are not permitted to be worn in the Academy, this includes any type of leather trainers such as those made by Converse, Adidas, Nike and Lonsdale. Non-branded footwear that has low lacing, metal eyelets, a rounded toe and thick raised rubber sole moulded/curved around the shoe are also inappropriate. When purchasing new footwear for September please do not buy any trainer style footwear for your child.
- Piercings, with the exception of a small stud in each ear, are not appropriate. No facial piercings of any kind (eg. eyebrow, nose, mouth or tongue) are allowed, including the use of clear plastic studs.
- Plain black loose fitting trousers made of cotton, terylene or wool mixture with no prominent zips or studs. Tight fitting (fitted to the skin throughout the entire leg) trousers are not appropriate.
- Black skirt in a plain style of a length no more than 5cm (2″) above or below the knee, made of cotton, terylene or wool mixture. Short skirt, tight-fitting, lycra-type stretch fabric, bodycon, cord or denim skirts must not be worn.
The vast majority of our students wear their uniform with pride and are a real credit to the Academy.
Thank you for your continued support.
Yours sincerely
Blake Hendren
