This year’s first Headteacher Student of the Week awards go to Year 7 student Charlie Roberts and Year 11 student Alicia Graham.
Charlie has made a brilliant start to life at Workington Academy and has received an incredible three nominations for the award. He has already attended four sessions of homework club and has produced independent research based on his English and Geography work. He is also working well in maths, having completed the maths challenge homework on sequences. He as already accrued an impressive 21 reward points and has impressed the staff who work with him with his exceptional attitude. Charlie is really buying into the school ethos of Respect, Responsibility and Resilience.
Alicia has also has more than one nomination, having been put forward by both Child Development and maths. In Child Development she has completed a significant amount of work over the summer, improving her coursework to the top grade. She also scored 93% in a trial exam which she sat this week. In maths, Alicia has picked up where she left off in Year 10 with a fantastic start to the year. She is an exceptional mathematician, enjoys problem solving and always gives her best, both in and out of class. She is looking forward to Year 11 and will be studying at the Academy’s sixth form next year.
Congratulations to our two winners who receive a gold star pin badge which they can wear for the rest of their time at the academy, along with a certificate and a photo opportunity with Mr Bird.
