Mr Bird has been catching up with the Headteacher Learner of the Week award winners from the last two weeks.
Last week’s winners were Oscar Beer (Year 9) and Summer Brice (Year 7).
Oscar received a nomination in Geography where he has been testing himself by ‘challenging up’ on tasks and his homework is exemplary. He is on task from the moment he walks into the classroom to the moment he steps out and never fails to say thanks you or have a quick catch up before leaving the room. Summer has settled in brilliantly since she joined us from Victoria Junior School in September. She was nominated in French for her all round excellence and enthusiasm. Summer has also attended extra-curricular trampolining club and is an active member of the Theatre-Crazy group.
This week’s winners are Kate Metherell (Year 11) and Kate Neesham (Year 8).
Kate Metherell was nominated for excellence in Science, which along with History is her favourite subject. She also enjoys her Hospitality course, through which she was involved in baking cakes for the recent charity cake sale. Kate Neesham was nominated in History where she has produced outstanding work on all topics. The quality of her written tasks and her response to teacher feedback has been exceptional. Kate has accrued 196 reward points in the last three and a half terms, plays the violin and has represented the school at rugby.
Congratulations to all of our winners who receive a gold star pin badge which they can wear for the rest of their time at the academy, along with a certificate and a photo opportunity with Mr Bird. In addition to the winners, 27 students have received nomination letters from Mr Bird over the last fortnight.
