Our pupils have had an absolutely amazing day representing the Victorian children of Workington in the film, The Ballad of Lucy Sands. We have spent the day on location playing the angry mob outside of the court and the mournful congregation of the church at Lucy’s Funeral in St John’s Church.
The day started early with a quick meeting at the Helena Thompson Museum where they were briefed on the day’s running order and met actors and the director, Steve Baldwin. They were then taken to a location near Elizabeth Street where the pupils played the parts of the angry mob who had just found out that the chief suspect had been released from the Courts. Following this, we relocated to St John’s Church to recreate the funeral scene, with a real coffin and funeral party! All of our pupils played an amazing part and were thoroughly professional throughout the day.
This has been an excellent opportunity for us to ‘Be the Best We Can Be’ and we are so very proud of each and everyone of the students who took part today. We will keep you informed of the release date of the next trailer, where you will be able to see the pupils of Workington Academy.
