Mr Bird has been catching up with our recent Headteacher Learner of the Week winners.
Our winners from 22 November are Ellie Ritchie from year 9 and Jack Walsh from year 7. Ellie received two nominations on the same day, one from Technology and one from Science. Her Technology teacher described her book as “one of the best I’ve ever marked”. It has sketches and key words added to all of her decorative techniques. Ellie has also excelled in Science this year and recently produced some amazing homework on Stem Cells. She has represented the school at football, is a school librarian and attends homework club. Jack joined us from Ashfield Juniors in September and is nominated for outstanding work in maths, where his hard work is leading to excellent progress. Jack plays football in school and his favourite other subject is English.
Our winners from November 29 are Henry Chen and Luke Hendren. Henry and Luke were best in school at intermediate and junior level respectively on the Computing Bebras Challenge. The challenge is a national competition which exposes students to a new way of thinking computationally.
Students have to complete 18 puzzles of increasing difficulty in a 40 minutes. Luke joined the academy from Seaton Juniors in September and plays football in school. His favourite lessons are Computing, Maths and PE. Henry has represented the school at football, is a school librarian and attends homework club. His favourite lessons are also Computing, Maths and PE
Congratulations to all of our winners, who get a photo opportunity with Mr Bird, a certificate and a gold star pin badge which they can wear on their blazers for the rest of their time at the Academy.
