Dear Parent / Carer
Guidance was received from the government yesterday on the measures to be taken to facilitate the safe opening of schools to certain year groups, at the very earliest date of 1st June.
- The year groups prioritised by the Government are Nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.
- Secondary schools are being asked to provide some face-to-face support to supplement the remote education of year 10 and year 12 students who are due to take key exams next year, alongside the provision being offered for priority groups.
The school is now entering an additional phase of planning to ensure that we can meet the newly published guidelines. We will communicate our phased return plans to you when we are confident that all the resources and necessary control measures can be assured.
Currently there are no plans for face-to-face lessons with students in years 7 to 9 prior to the summer, in line with government guidance. Students in these year groups should continue to work hard on the work set remotely on Firefly. If things change with regards to these year groups, we will of course be in touch with you.
For years 10 and 12, we will offer some face to face support and guidance to help prepare them for upcoming exams. Again, students should not cease to complete the work set remotely, as the additional support and guidance will be in addition to, not instead of, online learning. We will consult on our plans to deliver face-to-face sessions and be in touch with arrangements soon.
Furthermore, our current year 11 and 13 students are never far from our thoughts. Work is ongoing regarding the exam grading process, and we will be in touch about celebratory events just as soon as circumstances allow.
Please know that, along with the education of your children, we will continue to keep their physical and mental health at the forefront of all of our decision making.
Yours sincerely
Des Bird
