Workington Academy has been awarded the Teach Well School Gold Award by the Teach Well Alliance.
The Teach Well Alliance is an organisation focused on helping schools to improve staff health and wellbeing. Over the course of lockdown, they have introduced their ‘Teach Well Alliance’s Teach Well School Gold Award for taking care of the physical and mental health of staff during the Corona Virus pandemic’ to recognise schools who have supported staff during the pandemic. There are currently around 100 recipients of the award.
The award recognises the steps taken by staff at Workington Academy to support and look out for each other during this pandemic, but this also reflects the ways in which staff-student and student-student contact has allowed for staff and students’ mental and physical wellbeing to be a priority throughout lockdown. The award is a reflection of the culture of community within Workington Academy and how our community has risen to the challenges faced during lockdown, supporting each other along the way.
