Dear Parents & Carers
Please be advised that we have had a further confirmed case of Covid-19 in year 11. The student who has tested positive was tested on Tuesday 10th November, and has not been in school since Friday 6th November.
The positive result was received yesterday afternoon. Please be assured that following notification of the test, we have sought advice and been assured that due to the time elapsed between the symptoms arising and the student last attending school, we do not have to ask any further students to self-isolate.
We have been notified that a member of the admin team who does not work in a student-facing roll has also tested positive. This member of staff is not in direct contact with students in their day to day role, and is based in an office which is not accessed by any of the student population. Some non-teaching staff will have to self-isolate as a result, and I would ask parents to please be patient when contacting the Academy, as the overall admin team is short-staffed as a result.
I have written to you immediately, as I am aware that parents will be anxious about this development. This situation has happened in a number of schools across Cumbria, and as in other schools, we will take further direction from Public Health England. We will keep you updated as and when we receive further information.
Yours faithfully
Mr D Bird
Headteacher
