Year 7 Settling In Tutor Meetings – 12 & 13 January 2021

16th December 2020

Dear Parent / Carer,

Following a very successful first full term for our Year 7 students, I would like to invite you to attend our Year 7 Virtual Settling in Meetings on Tuesday 12 and Wednesday 13 January 2021. These meetings provide you with an opportunity to discuss with your child’s Form Tutor how they have settled in at Workington Academy and allow you to ask any questions that you may have.

These meetings form a vital part of our collaborative home-school relationship and have always been well received. They typically take place in school involving face to face conservations, however, given the strict Health and Safety guidelines that we are currently working under, the school has introduced a new intuitive and easy to use online platform called School Cloud Parents Evenings. This allows our settling in meetings to take place via video call in a COVID secure way. The system is cloud based and can be accessed from any internet device such as a smart phone, tablet/iPad, laptop or PC.

Bookings for your virtual meeting will open on Wednesday 16 December 2020 and close on Wednesday 5 January 2021.

In order to book your appointment please visit https://workingtonacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk and enter the following login details:

Following login, you will be required to select the date and time that you would like your appointment to be scheduled for.

After selecting the relevant meeting date, you can then choose your preferred booking method: automatic, which allocates a time based upon your availability or manual, which lets you select a specific time from a range available. All appointments will be 10 minutes long and run from 3.30pm to 6.00pm on both dates.

As well as making an appointment with your child’s Form Tutor there will also be an opportunity to meet with Miss Tweddle, Director of Learning – Year 7, Mrs Robertson – Student Provision Officer – Year 7 and Miss Lee – Deputy Director of Learning and Transition Class Teacher. Please note that availability with these members of staff is limited, so please do only make appointments with these staff members if you have a serious concern or if your child is taught by Miss Lee.

Once you have selected appointments with the relevant members of staff, click ‘Accept Appointment’. You will then be sent a confirmation email.

Further guidance on accessing the booking system and information on how to take part in the video call itself be found using the following link:

https://support.parentseveningsystem.co.uk/article/801-video-parents-how-to-attend-appointments-over-video-call

You may also find the following video informative to see what the video call will look like on your device: https://vimeo.com/401026901

If you do not have access to the internet or if you have any questions or concerns regarding booking your appointments or accessing your virtual meetings please don’t hesitate to contact me via ntweddle@workingtonacademy.org

Yours sincerely

Miss Nicola Tweddle

Director of Learning – Year 7

**Year 7 students have been given a paper copy of a personalised letter detailing this information**
