Dear Year 11 students,
As promised just a few days ago, here are some updates in relation to examinations, following the most recent Government announcements.
- There will not be the normal GCSE examinations in the summer
- There will be teacher assessments, based on all of your work, which will go towards determining your final grades. We do not know yet, exactly what this will look like.
- There is no published decision at this time as to whether or not BTEC/ vocational exams will go ahead in the summer (we will tell you as soon as we know).
Despite all these changes, confusion and uncertainty, I would again like to congratulate you on your positive attitudes and your resilience at this time. Over the last few days, your attendance at tutor time has improved, the majority of you are engaging fully in live lessons and completing the work set for all your lessons. I know the year group team are very impressed by this. If you are not in this majority, it is even more important that you now fully engage in your online lessons so that you are fully informed as to what is expected of you.
As stated earlier, we do not yet know what teacher assessment will look like, but it is certain that we will need a strong body of evidence in every subject to justify the grades that you are awarded. This means that it is vital that you complete all the work that is set by your teachers as they will make sure that you are covering all the necessary content and skills in each subject to be successful.
We will continue to keep you fully updated as further information is forthcoming.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs O’Hagan
Deputy Headteacher
