The following information is for students who are not returning to WCSF once they leave us at the end of Year 11.

Dear Parent / Carer
As students prepare to move on to their next steps outside of Workington Academy we would like to direct them to some materials to help them to prepare themselves for this next stage.
All students will be given access to materials for a virtual work experience programme, this has been provided by Reed and can be access through students Firefly accounts. The booklet can be worked through at the students own pace and includes a variety of videos and activities. When tasks are completed students should submit the work to workexperience21@workingtonacademy.org in order to receive a certificate confirming their participation.
Additionally, students can access https://stepupcumbria.ac.uk/. This site, provided by the local colleges in Cumbria offers free activities to prepare students for their college courses. The site offers activities in the areas of engineering, art, early years, health and social care, business and IT, construction, hair and beauty and catering. Some of the activities will need to be completed online, others will need additional resources, for example making dough within the early years activities. By engaging with these tasks you can be sure that you are enrolled on a course that interests you and that you fully understand what the course entails.
Finally, we have enrolled all students on to the Youth Employment Young Professional scheme; Preparing for Your Future; which offers students
- information about the range of pathways and choices available
- support and information across a range of personal and professional development areas
- employability and life skills development
- virtual work experience
- the opportunity to connect with Youth Friendly opportunities
To access this resource students will need to visit: https://www.youthemployment.org.uk/young-professional-training/ and log in with their school email address and the password: PASSWORD.
As a further reminder the Unifrog platform is available for students to access after they have left the Academy by selecting the ‘keep in touch’ option in the profile section. This will also offer students access to the search facilities, MOOCS and wider careers information.
Good luck to all our students, we wish you well for the future. Remember to always be the best you can be and you will thrive within your chosen career.
Yours sincerely
Andrea McAllister
