Our Leading for Change project team have been working hard this week to raise awareness of the environmental impact of single use water bottles in school. They spent some lunch and break-times collecting bottles in the canteen, which ordinarily would have gone in the bin and used these to educate their peers on the need to work with them to reduce plastic in school.
Additionally, the group have written and sent persuasive letters in attempt to gain funding and sponsorship to assist with the purchasing of reusable bottles for Workington Academy students. The group will also be meeting with project managers from Sellafield in November. who will give some very welcome advice and guidance.
Our students are thoroughly enjoying the extra responsibility in school and working as a team to drive change.
