On Monday, 24th January, pupils from across Cumbria Education Trust came together online to participate in an online GCSE French Masterclass. The purpose of this session was to provide pupils with an opportunity to work collaboratively and to explore the requirements of the GCSE French course and how they can put themselves in the best position possible to achieve as highly as they can and be the best they can be.
The session covered reading and listening strategies but the main focus was on speaking and writing. The content covered higher level structures, vocabulary and tenses and how these could be best applied. Pupils from Workington Academy, William Howard School and The Whitehaven Academy worked together and showed some excellent team-working skills. This session was extremely valuable, not only in terms of the actual language learning, but in terms of exploiting technology to facilitate such a session which allowed pupils from across Cumbria Education Trust to collaborate and share best practice.
Deputy Lead for the Modern Languages School Improvement Team at Cumbria Education Trust, Craig Hamilton, said ‘it was a pleasure to be able to deliver this session to pupils from all our secondary schools and the engagement and enthusiasm the pupils showed was very heartening indeed.’
