Dear Parents and Carers,
As you may be aware, the Department for Education has recently recommended that state-funded mainstream schools should deliver a school week of at least 32.5 hours by September 2024. In the Easter newsletter, we informed you that to accommodate these recommendations there will be a small extension to the school day, starting from September 2023. At the time, all families were invited to comment on this proposed change, and we received no negative responses to this proposal.
In light of these recommendations and a positive consultation process, we will be extending the school day by 10 minutes. This change will come into effect from Wednesday 6 September and will apply to all students. The changes to the school day are outlined below:
We understand that this may have caused some inconvenience for families, and we apologise for any disruption. To minimise any inconvenience, we have spoken to our transport providers and transport times have been adjusted accordingly. If your son/daughter travels on a bus to school the Local Authority will be in touch with the new pick up and drop off times. We hope this will help alleviate any concerns you may have about transportation.
To ensure a smooth transition, we would like to remind you that all students in all year groups will return to school on Wednesday, 6 September.
If you have any further questions or concerns about this change, please do not hesitate to contact us. We appreciate your continued support and cooperation as we work to provide the best possible education for your children to enable them to be the best they can be.
Yours faithfully,
Mr B Hendren
Deputy Headteacher
