The Department for Education (DfE) has recently asked all secondary schools to provide a lateral flow on-site test for pupils on return in January.
As you will be aware the number of cases of COVID-19 in the local area is increasing, especially amongst the 12-18 age group and at Workington Academy we have now had multiple cases.
As the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increases in the Allerdale region we have decided to take further action to limit the spread of this disease in school.
o minimise the transmission of Covid-19 in school we have produced a risk assessment for the re-opening of school on Monday 6 September.
We have been asked to work with Cumbria County Council to manage the testing of school-aged children whilst they are at school.
I am writing to update you with regards to some cases of Covid-19 in school.
Cumbria County Council, NHS Test and Trace and Public Health England are advising ‘surge testing’ to be implemented within our community.
Please be advised that we have had a confirmed case of Covid-19 in Year 8.
