Jacob is nominated for his outstanding work in maths and German. In maths, he excelled on the recent Fractions, Decimals and Percentages topic where he built on his prior knowledge to solve some difficult problem solving questions. In German, he has scored 95% or more in each of his topic tests, including full marks on the most recent one. Jacob is an active member of the library, making use of homework club and enjoying the accelerated reader programme.
Layla is nominated for her excellence in her favourite subject, Art. She has recently produced some great work on the Terracotta Army project and is skilled in using pastille paints and watercolours. Layla is part of the team of staff and students who are running the Race for Life in Carlisle next month, in aid of Cancer Research UK.
As well as a photo opportunity with Mr Bird, Learner of the Week winners get a certificate and a gold star pin badge which they can wear on their blazers for the rest of their time at the Academy.
