Year 7 Settling in Evenings – Virtual ‘Meet the Tutor Evenings’ w/c 18 October 2021

Dear Parent /Carer

Following a very successful first half term for our Year 7 students, I would like to invite you to attend our Year 7 Virtual Settling in Meetings w/c 18 October 2021. These meetings provide you with an opportunity to discuss with your child’s Form Tutor how they have settled in at Workington Academy, initial progress made and allow you to ask any questions that you may have.

At Workington Academy, we value strongly the relationships between school and home and pride ourselves on providing high quality school-home communication, which benefits the progress and learning of your child. Our initial Settling in Evening Meetings have always been well received and form one of the first steps in our strong home-school relationship.

These meetings typically take place in school and involve face to face conservations. However, given the strict Health and Safety guidelines that we are currently working under, we have introduced a new intuitive and easy to use online platform called School Cloud Parents Evenings.

This allows our settling in meetings to take place via video call in a COVID secure way. The system is cloud based and can be accessed from any internet device such as a smart phone, tablet/iPad, laptop or PC.

Online Meetings will take place on the following dates for the Year 7 Form Groups below;

All individual appointments will be 10 minutes long and run from 3.30pm to 6.00pm.

Bookings for your virtual meeting will open on Wednesday 13 October 2021 and close on Tuesday 19 October 2021.

How to Book Your Appointment

In order to book your appointment please visit https://workingtonacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk and enter the following login details:

Following login, you will be required to select the date and time that you would like your appointment to be scheduled for.

After selecting the relevant meeting date, you can then choose your preferred booking method: automatic, which allocates a time based upon your availability or manual, which lets you select a specific time from a range available. All appointments will be 10 minutes long and run from 3.30pm to 6.00pm.

As well as making an appointment with your child’s Form Tutor there will also be an opportunity to meet with Miss Tweddle – Director of Learning, Miss Lee – Deputy Director of Learning and Mrs Robertson – Year Group Manager and Mr Charters – Assistant Year Group Manager.

Please note that availability with these members of staff is limited, so please do only make appointments with these staff members if you have a serious issue or concern that would like to discuss.

Once you have selected appointments with the relevant members of staff, click ‘Accept Appointment’. You will then be sent a confirmation email.
