Dear Parents & Carers
I am sorry to be writing to you following the sad news of the death of Her Majesty The Queen.
This morning in tutor time we ran a session to help students to understand this monumental event, and offered support to those who needed it.
We will of course as a school observe the period of national mourning which will continue until after the state funeral. At the time of writing, it is unclear what the arrangements for the funeral are, however we will keep you updated as soon as an announcement is made. Until advised otherwise, please assume that the Academy is open every day and the expectation is that all students should attend.
We will largely suspend all non-essential communications, such as those we usually make via social media. Essential communications to parents, as well as prospective parents, will continue as normal. We will also suspend some events which are not deemed to be the core business of the school. It is our intention to run the rewards events scheduled next week as normal as these form part of the core business of the school, and we would not seek to disrupt the plans of parents who have made arrangements to attend. The extra-curricular activities which are already planned will also go ahead. The Government may issue further, more specific advice and we will change our plans should they contradict this advice.
We will of course run some events and activities with the student body to commemorate the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II in the fullness of time.
I am sure you will join with me in thinking of the Royal Family at this difficult time, and I trust we each all have our own fond memories of Her Majesty.
Yours sincerely
Mark Bedford
Head of School
