Dear Parent/Carer,
I am writing following several concerning incidents, both nationally and locally, that have recently been reported in the media, including a racist incident in Carlisle.
Through our ‘Not in Our School’ mantra we are proactive in our promotion of diversity and tolerance, and we were shocked and saddened to hear of an incident within our county. Cumbria Education Trust will never tolerate discrimination and we will do all we can to promote and celebrate the protected characteristics that are set out in the Equality Act 2010.
We work within the Prevent guidelines. Prevent is one part of the government’s counter-terrorism strategy to tackle radicalisation and extremism. I am attaching the Cumbria Prevent Duty leaflet to this letter, so that you have the information to hand if you ever have a concern.
We invite you to join us to promote and celebrate diversity, tolerance, and community cohesion.
Yours Sincerely,
Katie Kinrade
