Dear Parent/Carer
The Christmas break is upon us, and it has been a very noteworthy and successful term. Our students as ever have been amazing in getting involved in so many activities in the last few weeks.
Fundraising for charity
Workington Academy pupils showed huge support for a number of charitable events over the last few weeks raising over £1500 for Children in Need and Save the Children. Through the Mission Christmas appeal we have supported over 100 children and their families to have a better festive break.
End of term performances
This years’ Christmas Concert was an uplifting showcase of talent with some very strong individual performances. We also had an additional evening where students performed several songs from the musical Matilda. Pupils rehearsed and organised much of this show independently and it was a credit to them all for the quality of the performances on the night.
Alumni visit to the Academy
We have had several alumni visiting the school over recent weeks. They shared their experiences of working in a number of different industries including AtkinsRealis, BAE Systems, Sellafield and Westmoreland Council. Our students were really interested to hear about the pathways available to them when leaving school.
Trial exams after the holidays
Year 13 start their trial exams on Monday 12 January and they will all be completed by 22 January.
