Dear Parents/Carers
It is with great sadness that we have decided to cancel our planned work experience weeks for our year 10 and year 12 students.
Due to this unprecedented event and the closure of many non-essential businesses we feel that we cannot continue with the scheme this year.
Already a number of businesses have contacted us to retract their offer of a placement, and with yesterday’s announcement of the enforced closures of so many businesses we have made the difficult decision. Many of these businesses will open again but may need additional time while things get back to normal.
We still strongly believe that students should engage with the world of work and will support students who choose to take up placements during the school holidays. As these young people will be entering into year 11 and year 13 and will have missed some direct teaching as a result of the school closure, we will not be rearranging these placement weeks during term time. We will instead, focus on ensuring that students are able to achieve the best results possible and ensuring that this difficult time does not have a long term impact upon them.
We thank you for your support with this matter and hope that you can appreciate the difficult of this situation.
Regards
Mrs Andrea McAllister
