Dear Parent/Carer
As the number of confirmed Covid-19 cases increases in the Allerdale region we have decided to take further action to limit the spread of this disease in school. From Tuesday 21 September, all staff and students will be required to wear a face covering in communal areas in the school. This includes, when entering and leaving school, when moving between classrooms and when in the Dining Hall (except when eating and drinking). Students do not need to wear face coverings when they are outside at break and lunchtimes. We will also maintain our hand washing and ventilation measures and we do not require students to wear a mask in classrooms. Students who are exempt from wearing a face covering will not be required to do so in school.
These additional measures have been put in place under guidance from Public Health England and are designed to reduce the transmission of Covid-19 in school and the wider community.
We want to minimise the disruption to teaching and learning as much as possible and would like to remind parents that students should continue to attend school unless they have symptoms of Covid-19 or a positive PCR test. If your child has been a close contact of a student, who has tested positive for Coronavirus we will write to you recommending they get a PCR test, they should still attend school while they wait for the results of this test.
Online learning is available for all students who are isolating through Firefly and Microsoft Teams.
I would like to thank you for your continued support at this difficult time.
Yours faithfully
Des Bird
Headteacher
