Dear Parent/Carer
RE: CET Be the Best You Can Be Week / Workington Academy Well-being Week
As we approach the penultimate week of this academic year, which is also the CET Be the best you can be week and our own Workington Academy Well-being week, we want to share some information with parents/carers so that you can support your child with getting the most out of this coming week and the events that are taking place.
The CET Be the best you can be week is an opportunity for all CET schools to focus on excellence in all areas and celebrate students who go above and beyond, every week, to be the best that they can be. This includes:
- Having the best attendance
- Displaying the best learning behaviours
- Displaying our 3Rs – Respect, Responsibility and Resilience
- Doing the best for themselves and others in as many ways as possible.
Here at Workington Academy, this year also has an added focus on wellbeing and encouraging students to take part in well-being activities, which will help them to do the best for themselves.
All students have already had the opportunity to sign up for Well-being activities – this was facilitated by form tutors. If you child has not signed up, please remind them that they can come and see Mrs Kinrade or Mrs Campbell during form time, and we will do our best to allocate them a session.
Parents/carers are reminded that there are events during the week for the wider community:
- Every Life Matters – Mental Health and Suicide Prevention Charity, are leading a session for parents on Wednesday 10th at 4pm. If you would like to attend, please meet in reception at 3.50pm.
- Workington Academy’s first Wellbeing Festival is taking place from 4-6pm on Thursday 11th July. This is being well supported by many agencies and clubs and is set to be an excellent event – all are welcome.
Parents/carers are asked to remind their children that the timetable for each day will be shared in tutor time. It is essential that students arrive at form promptly, this is to ensure that they don’t miss out on important information.
We will share the timetable for each day on social media, the evening before. This will enable you to see what events are taking place – please do ask your child about them when they return home each day.
We are proud of the extensive programme that we can offer – this demonstrates the priority that we place on wellbeing. As a result, we want our students to access every possible opportunity, we will be placing all students who have 100% attendance throughout the week into a prize draw. The winners will be selected on the last day of term, 19th July.
As part of the events this week, all students will also take part in the annual CET Mile, which will see all students complete a mile run / walk during their PE lesson. Prizes for the students who complete this in the fastest times, along with those who show high levels of resilience, effort and determination throughout this activity, will be celebrated on the 19th July, as part of the Academy’s wider rewards celebrations.
If you do have any questions about the upcoming week – please do not hesitate to contact me.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Katie Kinrade
